Thoughts on motherhood

A woman becomes a Mother the moment she finds out she's pregnant.
From the moment the line shows up on that stick she just peed on, she knows that life will never be the same. She realizes in that very moment, her body isn't just hers anymore, but is now a vessel in which she is holding the most precious of gifts. As her child grows, she will give more of her body to him until it seems he has taken almost everything. Some days she will long for her old self, to have her body back. But then he will kick and she will offer anything she has left just to feel that little life inside of her move again.

When that little life is ready to enter the world, she will feel more pain than she ever has before. She will cry out and beg for the pain to stop. But then she will finally look into the eyes of her son and she will know she would do it all over again just for him. He will look at her as if no one else in the world exists. He knows who she is. He's been waiting to meet her too. She is his mother.

She will give him everything she has in order for him to thrive. She will keep giving even when she's tired or frustrated or scared. She will love him with all of her being. She will be his pillar of strength and protect him. Through him she will become a woman.
She is a mother.
